Despite originating in South Carolina, Charleston Gray outperformed every watermelon that we’ve ever grown here in Maine.
These fruit typically weigh in at about 25-40 lbs, sporting a beautifully frosty shell and an intensely sweet, fiber-free flesh that maintains its quality from the center to the rind. The only drawback worth noting are the seeds you’ll inevitably find yourself blowing into the bushes, but even those are few in number and large enough to remove with ease.
